Abstract: I compare certain features of the UK, US and German university education systems point by point. I simply state facts and do not attempt to evaluate. I indicate equivalent concepts by their English and German names where they arise. There are no comments on the research functions of the universities.

I have personal experience of the teaching and learning systems (they are not the same thing) in Germany, Great Britain and the United States. I have also had a chance to observe the systems in Switzerland and France for extended periods of time (8-9 months each) although I did not participate directly.
