Synopsis On a flight from Launceston, Tasmania, to Sydney, the B717aircraft experienced an in-flight engine shutdown while approximately 11km north of the Lanceston VOR. This engine shutdown was determined to have been caused by faults in both ("independent") channels of the Electronic Engine Controller (EEC).
